If you were a seasoned player in the crypto space before 2018, you might have come across a term that hasn't been mentioned much lately—Security Token Offering (STO). At that time, although the Taiwanese government noticed the fraudulent activities arising from ICO fundraising, it did not outright reject the innovations brought about by cryptocurrencies. In fact, in 2019, the government formulated a set of STO regulations, allowing entities to legally issue cryptocurrencies for fundraising.
It seemed like a positive development, but it wasn't until the end of 2023 that the first entity—Sunny Founder—finally followed these STO regulations to issue cryptocurrencies for fundraising. In the 71st episode of the Blocktrend podcast in 2020, Blocktrend invited the CEO of Sunny Founder, Edison Feng, for an interview. At that time, he not only introduced the business of Sunny Founder but also discussed the potential application scenarios of STO in the renewable energy sector on the podcast. Unexpectedly, three years later, Sunny Founder became the first entity in Taiwan to issue STO.
