For the final article before the Lunar New Year, instead of discussing new projects, I would like to invite everyone to collaborate and help Blocktrend with the registration for the RetroPGF 2.
RetroPGF
RetroPGF, organized by Ethereum Layer 2 network Optimism, officially started the nomination process the day before yesterday. The entire process consists of three stages: nomination, confirmation, and voting, with the final results to be announced in March.
Blocktrend has previously explained the operation of RetroPGF and how Optimism generates revenue and allocates funds.
In simple terms, Optimism will allocate 10 million OP tokens this time, which will be evenly distributed among projects that contribute to building Optimism's public goods, including infrastructure, tool applications, and educational content, based on the final voting results of the Citizen House.
Applying for RetroPGF is Blocktrend's most significant event in 2023. Through this application process and the distribution of OP tokens, I hope that all paying members of Blocktrend can personally experience and benefit from this new public goods economic incentive mechanism. In the end, RetroPGF could become one of the key reasons why more readers are willing to pay to support Blocktrend.
If successful, I believe that Blocktrend will become the world's first subscription-based media to introduce RetroPGF as an economic incentive. Subscribers may find that, while subscribing to Blocktrend requires payment, they have the opportunity to receive OP token airdrops with each RetroPGF distribution. If Blocktrend receives the majority support from Optimism's Citizen House, the OP tokens received may even exceed the subscription fee. Ultimately, Blocktrend remains an independent media supported by all readers' subscription fees, but in terms of operation, part of it will be attributed to Optimism's assistance in attracting new subscribers through RetroPGF.
Applying for RetroPGF not only allows for hands-on involvement (you need to have a wallet to receive OP token airdrops), but also benefits everyone. It's a win-win situation.

However, I'm not sure whether Blocktrend will ultimately win the favor of Optimism's Citizen House. After all, Chinese-language media often has lower visibility in English-dominated communities. But it is precisely because of the language barrier that Blocktrend's importance is more pronounced—we create original content in Chinese rather than simply translating English reports.
Originally, I planned to fill out the RetroPGF registration form myself, as it only requires answering a simple question: "What specific contributions has Blocktrend made to Optimism to help people better understand this ecosystem?" The original text is as follows:
RetroPGF 2 is dedicated to projects that support development and usage of the OP Stack. For the category of Education you may nominate: Work to spread awareness and knowledge of how Optimism works, whether technically or socially. ... A description of how the project has supported development and usage of the OP Stack.
However, I believe that letting everyone brainstorm and answer this question collectively will result in more comprehensive and interesting responses. Therefore, I've created a Slido page where everyone can choose to answer anonymously or with their names, in both Chinese and English. I will consolidate all the responses and turn them into a complete proposal to submit for the application.
Filling out the answers itself is like a public good and a part of participating in RetroPGF. You won't gain anything extra by answering, except for a POAP participation certificate, but it can help all Blocktrend members have the opportunity to experience the complete RetroPGF process. To align with the RetroPGF schedule, the time for answering is limited from now until the end of the Chinese New Year holiday (January 29th).
For those who are going to fill out this response, it's quite likely that they've never heard of Blocktrend from various countries. If we could provide a brief explanation of what Blocktrend is doing, it would be easier to convince them to vote for Blocktrend. The final submission will be in English.
